This painting is part of the Nostalgia exhibition, in which I explored visual interpretations of several musical modes and Andalusian muwashahat. This particular work embodies the song “Isk Aletash” Music and created by Mohammed Akil Almonbgi on Hijaz maqam, when they to pray for rain in Syria
The calligraphy features the following poem:
"My Lord, my eyelids have dried up from tears and longing
They have taken up residence in my heart
My Lord, I have committed a wrong but I am seeking your forgiveness
Please have mercy on me
Oh you who is generous, faithful, content, and benevolent
Water the thirsty one, Oh generous one
My mind is maddened by thirst
Quench the longing and water the thirsty
Oh Merciful One, let me drink from the spring of kindness"
