When he start swaying (Original Art)
Medium: Ink on acid-free 100% cotton paper
Dimensions: 20 x 30 inches (50.8 x 76.2 cm)
Serie : Maqamat
This painting is part of the Nostalgia exhibition, in which I explored visual interpretations of several musical modes and Andalusian muwashahat. This particular work embodies the song “Lama bada yatathana” representing a traditional in my city Aleppo dance called ALSAMAH where the ladies dance on the music of Andalousia and Moachahat
The Maqam here is Nahawand
The lyrics:
When he starts swaying, when he starts swaying,
His beauty enchanted me, and I was captured in a moment.
A branch swayed, as he leaned to the side.
Oh, my promises and my confusion, oh my promises and my confusion,
No one can comfort me in my love's pain
Except the king of beauty, except the king of beauty.
Oh, my promises and my confusion, oh my promises and my confusion,
No one can console me in love except the king of beauty, except the king of beauty.
Oh, my promises and my confusion.
Aman, Aman.
